This is why I'm hot for

So today I got my ass up at 5am in order to attend the 6am class at Bikram Yoga up on Chicago Ave... Very cool stuff. Hot stuff actually, would be more apt description. It's the one where you do yoga for 90 minutes in sauna-like conditions. It's intense but I felt reallyreallygood afterwards... I recommend it: as a new student you can sign up for a 30-day pass which is only $29; after that it's roughly $15 perclass, i think. I heard the evening classes get crowded and therefore hot; I will be tryin to get up in time for the 6am sessions during the weekdays for the next thirty days. On weekends I'll go to a session at a more reasonable time.

THIS is why I'm hot for!!!! haha ha lol

playa to cozumel and back again n again...

So I finally went over to Cozumel on sunday; fun ferry ride which became very familiar to me during my last two days... I met a beautiful senorita at the ticket office and decided to come back and hang out with her and her friend/supervisor... The three of us got some ice cream and talked for awhile before they went home. I shopped for some masks and found a great deal on a some masks and a beautiful chess set.

Monday found me snorkeling for the first time ever; it was amazing to be able to peer underwater and see huge schools of fish, colorful marine life, barracuda! THAT was amazing; probably the highlight of my trip. ...Other than that: went to playa some more to hang out and see the people. my last two days i enjoyed the beautiful accomodations at Casa Del Mar... can't WAIT to go back!

So saturday got a little crazy

I had wanted to go to Tulum, but I woke up tooo late after dancing all night in the blue parrot..

I was walking down the avenida ( i walked a lot on friday ), when i met these girls from israel (ila y sivah), who told me i should meet them at the blue parrot.

i actually got there early and watched the fire show, then i walked back down the st for a minute, and ran into them again... we headed to the club, but they quickly began to irritate me with awkawrd sarcasm and intermittent hebrew. ayayay... so i just headed to the dance floor to do what i do best, and i did it til about 4 am. i started dancing with these 2 senoritas who kept smiling and laughing at me... after awhile one of them left to make out with her boyfriend, but the other stayed to dance, then spent like an hour telling me about her own, which was interesting though sort of sad. she was nice and enjoyed speaking english (pretty good actually)...

anyway, saturday i stayed near my cabana and ate some terrible pescado...
i bought a bunch of fruit and just chilled by the water and stuff...
then i wandered the streets, meeting a guy named joseph, and others and eventually met some dude sitting alone at this bar where mostly nonmexicans were hanging out. but he was from koahuila (which i later found out is part of texas, or texas is part of it, or whatever).. he gave me a cd and a tshirt, and even played some cool flute he had... smoked some (shh!!) and then he, i, the staff from the bar and these 4 silly scandinavian girls went to another club at like 3am. we drank and talked and smoked and laughed and danced, and then i eventually lost them all, and found myself dancing and chatting with rosalinda, who has been to chicago. she was cool, and then her, i and her 2 friends went to have breakfast before i stumbled home at 8am...

sunday went to cozumel, but then went back to playa to get some masks.. heard fun music on the ferry!!!

today i went snorkeling, and i wish i could have taken pictures! so coool!!!! now it is time to go back to playa to get my watch!

La playa del carmen

Bueno.
I arrived via the bus from Cancun yesterday afternoon, and easily found my cabanas by the water. Pretty nice, except i think that, since the staff lives there and are not the owners, they are a bit bitter and not as nice as i think they could be.
But at least there are no bugs in the bed...

More later... it´s too damn hot in this internet cafe. AYAYAY!

cancun - premio dia

wow this is exciting:
landed in cancun last night and successfully avoided all the taxi offers to take the 3dollar bus to downtown. then i found my way to my hotel by asking people -- in spanish!!!
the hotel looked much nicer when i booked my reservation online, but that is no surprise... it was hot as all hell in my room so i wondered down the street, where i found a nice open air market. people, mostly women, were selling familiar looking exotic 3rd world goods of various origins... i debatedover gettin some gifts but i thought it was all overpriced, so i just bought myself one of those woven suits for like 20bucks, then left...
i was then wooed into checkin out a nearby restaurant. at first i was just going to enjoy the 2x1 cerveza special... but then the mgr and his crew were so friendly that i decided to go ahead and try the fish tacos.
they came and sat with me, before my first beer was served, and we immediately were jokin and laughin as i practiced my spanish and they practiced their english. it was beautiful... the mgr kept trying to tell me about his "sister" and telling me i could have her for 600 pesos.
eventually this old leather faced gringo who had not shaved in a few weeks came over, smellin like sweaty old tobacco. turns out he is on the run from the law = he came to mexico 6 months ago when he found out he would get 7 years in prison for drivin with a suspended license (!!!). he had clearly had some bad luck, included being robbed for everything he owned on his way around the gulf coast when a truck pulled up and some guys wth machetes came out. but he was still alive, and doin well: he´s a master carpenter with a phD in archaeology and a masters in anthro, or something, and now he is living rent-free in a whorehouse that he says he will probably be repairing for the next three years. its owned by a zapata, so its nothin. he and i had fun drinkin beer, smokin some ganja (apparently the mgr of that restaurant is quite the entrepreneur, or hustler, however you wanna call it), and tradin stories of ... women...
after that i wandered a bit andfound some boring clubs before finally retiring to bed around two am...
but couldn´t sleep past 6am, due to fucking bedbugs tearin me up, not to mention the intense humidheat of my room, which was much warmer than it was outside. i rose, washed the sweat and bug carcasses off me, and went to the lobby to wait for desayuno.
after breakfast i smoked a little spliff and then headed to the beach for a few hours... all i can say is MUY MUY RICA!!!!!!!!
next stop::: PLAYA DEL CARMEN
